L’aviation américaine a bombardé dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi 3 janvier 2020 la voiture transportant le général iranien Qassem Soleimani à son arrivée à Bagdad, en Iraq. Le débat vole de la politique intérieure américaine à la politique extérieure, selon que les uns sont Républicains ou Démocrates.
Pour le Président américain Donald Trump: « Le général Qassem Soleimani a tué ou grièvement blessé des milliers d’Américains sur une longue période et prévoyait d’en tuer beaucoup d’autres […] Il aurait dû être tué il y a des années ! »

@DeanObeidallah: Trump administration tells us that #Soleimani was plotting attacks. #Soleimani was not the leader of a small terrorist cell- he is part of Iranian military that is estimated at over 500,000 and in a nation of over 80 million. Why would killing one person stop any attacks?!

@JesseKellyDC: If you’ve been to a VA hospital in recent years and seen a young man missing limbs, there’s a reasonable chance Qasem Soleimani is responsible for it. He’s unquestionably an enemy of America and I’m glad he’s dead and I’m bummed it was a quick death.
